At Into Loving Homes, we want to make sure that each pet finds the perfect forever home. To achieve this, we have two compelling reasons for not giving animals away for free:
1. The Cost of Proper Care: Animals, much like family members, require financial support to thrive. Our commitment to their well-being means that we want to ensure they are placed in homes that can provide the necessary care. One way we assess this is by confirming that the adopting family has the means to pay an adoption fee.
2. Sustaining Our Mission: Into Loving Homes operates as a not-for-profit organisation. We don’t qualify for government grants as a Home-to-Home rehoming service (ie not a shelter), which makes the adoption fees an essential component. These fees help cover the costs required to run our organisation effectively.

To provide complete transparency, let’s compare our adoption fees with shelter prices. At Into Loving Homes, we go the extra mile to make your adoption experience even more special. When you choose to adopt from us, our animals come with essential items from home, such as a collar, lead, bowls, food, and sometimes even a bed, hutch, crate, carrier or scratch post.
Shelter Prices:
- Cats: $95 (purebred: $250)
- Dogs: $450 ($1200 for purebreds)
- Horses (retired/not able to be ridden): $800
- Rabbit: $60
- Guinea Pig: $40
- Rooster: $15
Into Loving Homes Prices (Including Additional Items):
- Cats: $77 (purebred/very popular breeds: $227)
- Dogs: $127 (purebred/very popular breeds up to $777)
- Horses (retired/not able to be ridden): $299
- Rabbits: $37 ($57 for a pair)
- Guinea Pigs: $27 ($37 for a pair)
- Birds (Lorikeet): $27, (Parrot): $77
- Chickens: $7
- Roosters: $7
Special Cases: We also rehome animals that are not commonly found in shelters, such as sheep, cows, hens, and bonded pairs. For bonded animals, we offer reduced fees, such as cat pairs for $99 and rabbit pairs for $57 to encourage bonded animals to be adopted together where possible.
